 | | moronovich: Wauw,Topa just blundered! |
Oct-29-10 | | SetNoEscapeOn: Game over. |
Oct-29-10 | | marcwordsmith: OOPS! |
Oct-29-10 | | Fiberking: There's Topa's blunder! 32.Rc3? |
Oct-29-10 | | marcwordsmith: why did Topa trade rooks?? There was no need for him to do so, I don't think. |
Oct-29-10 | | whiteshark: The game takes a surprising twist... |
Oct-29-10 | | WinKing: The clock finally caught up with Topa. |
Oct-29-10 | | marcwordsmith: dancing rook time already? |
Oct-29-10 | | jmboutiere: Rc4 not Rc3 was the right move for Topa, game seems over, Carsen winns |
Oct-29-10 | | marcwordsmith: I think Carlsen just clinched the tournament, depending on the outcome of the Anand game. |

 | | moronovich: 0-1 !! Officially!
Congrats to Magnus for another deserved tournament victory.Note : the silent 28-a5!? might be the move/manouver that indirectly was winning the game.Such moves are often much more difficult to deal with than the direct threats e.g.Ng4. |
Oct-29-10 | | WinKing: Thanks for the game chessgames. Good night everyone. You hate to see a loss because of time pressure but that's how it goes sometimes in the big league. |
Oct-29-10 | | SetNoEscapeOn: As <Eyal> said after Anand beat him here, Topalov is not the same WC caliber player that he is when he has the initiative and in dynamic positions... Congrats to Carlsen, who obviously set himself apart from the field here. |
Oct-29-10 | | jmboutiere: Carlsen is the winner of the Nanjing Pearl Spring 2010 tournament, congrat!!! |
Oct-29-10 | | whiteshark: u r rly a gangsta! http://l0rdshrek.info/bilderhoster/... |

 | | Honza Cervenka: Ouch, 32.Rc3 would be quite bad blunder even for average 1900 club player... |
Oct-29-10 | | vonKrolock: After 32.♖c4 e5 33.e4 g4 34.hg4 ♘xg4 35.♖xa4 ♘dxf2 (yes a neatly forced line ...) click for larger view A very interesting situation would arise, with black threatening sooner or later to play f7-f5, while white could try to counter advancing the distant 'a' ♙ |

 | | Richard Taylor: I missed this game - did Topalov blunder? |
Oct-29-10
 | | Richard Taylor: The tournament is over? Forgot about it... Carlsen won it last year I think. |
Oct-29-10 | | virginmind: missed this game. bravo carlsen! |
Oct-29-10
 | | Richard Taylor: These tournaments are a bit boring with all the same players every year... |
Oct-29-10 | | luzhin: 30...g5!! was actually a very crafty trap by Carlsen, because 30.a3 was Topalov's attempt to snare the Black Knight on d3 -- which 32.Rc3 would do, if it were not for 32...Nxf2. Obviously a huge blunder by Topalov -- but Carlsen was playing for it. |
Oct-29-10 | | Catfriend: <Richard Taylor: These tournaments are a bit boring with all the same players every year...> What a strange statement to say about <Nanjing>, of all events. 4/6 are players relatively new to elite events, with only Anand and Topalov being "the same players every year". Bacrot, Wang Yue and Gashimov are names we don't see much at these levels. Even Carlsen is a top-notch SGM for two years. What <every year> are you talking about?! |
Oct-29-10 | | Indiachess: Topalov could not beat Carlsen for the last 2 years. For Carlsen Topalov does not seem to be a big rival. |
Oct-29-10 | | Catfriend: For Carlsen, few do :)
Kramnik, to name the most obvious. |
