 | | FSR: This game was played in the last championship of the Gompers Park Chess Club on Chicago's Northwest Side. I won 5-0. The club had existed since at least the late 1950s. No doubt Lasch stood worse before 15...gxf5?, but that move was a bad mistake, after which I rolled him smoothly. |

In this game he gets crushed but it’s hard to tell whether he was a reasonably strong player that simply got outplayed by a master, or a hopelessly overmatched beginner who never had a chance. |

But then 2...c5 made it a Franco-Sicilian, followed by a Benoni after 3.d5. |
