Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-09-14  Karpova: This Correspondence game was played from 1856 to 1857.

The annotator calls 5...Qf6 a weak move.

The Philadelphia Committee's <admirable analysis> showed that <10...Qxe5> would have lost.

14...Bxe5 is forced, to prevent <Qg7>.

The move was not annotated, but 15...Qf6 doesn't look good. Perhaps, 15...Bd4 was better.

Philadelphia wanted to win <in style>, and so preferred 22.f4 over <22.Qg7>.

The Athenaeum players (Philadelphia) published <exhaustive analysis> on the position after 22...e4, demonstrating that White is winning.

Oct-11-14  Calli: The NYC players were Mead, Loyd, Marache, Gallatin, Fuller and Perrin, http://www.chessarch.com/excavation...
