chancho: I read somewhere that the top players come to these candidate tournaments armed to the teeth and in addition have their seconds to assist them.

Unfortunately, that is not the case with Wesley So.

Mar-11-18  ChessHigherCat: That'll be the day
Mar-11-18  JimNorCal: Don't have access to an engine so this may be wrong but it feels like Fabi's position is running out of steam.
Mar-11-18  BOSTER: Now Re2, and a7,b6 are weak.
Mar-11-18  Jack Kerouac: How often do you see a bishop on the back rank with so much potential power?
And boom. There you go...
Mar-11-18  malt: <JimNorCal> <is running out of steam.> A bit like my router at the moment
Mar-11-18  Marmot PFL: 43...Bf5 winning f6 seems =, other moves probably also hold.
Mar-11-18  BOSTER: Black'd count that white can take the open <d> file.
Mar-11-18  ChessHigherCat: Bf5 and black wins the f6 pawn, n'est-ce pas? If Bf5 Qxf6 f4 the Qd6+ and nada
Mar-11-18  Ulhumbrus: 43...Bb7 keeps c6 free for the queen
Mar-11-18  morfishine: What a fantastic game, lost me moves ago
Mar-11-18  ChessHigherCat: Whoops, he heard me. Now Kh7 first.
Mar-11-18  Ulhumbrus: 45 Qc3 covers the c4 and f6 pawns but then on 45...Qe4 White can't play 46 Re2
Mar-11-18  BOSTER: <45...Qe4 46.Re2 ?>.
Mar-11-18  BOSTER: It,s not easy to find any good plan for white.

  chancho: Drawn.
Mar-11-18  Marmot PFL: Both games just drew which makes the press conference harder
Mar-11-18  Marmot PFL: No sorry, K-K still playing
Mar-11-18  ChessHigherCat: Must be good news for Aronian because 2 wins in a row by Fabi would make it hard to catch up.
Mar-11-18  morfishine: White's pieces are perfectly placed, he's almost in zugzwang!

*****

Mar-11-18  Ulhumbrus: One example of a variation where Black can place some pressure on White but not quite enough to win is 45...Qe4 46 Rd2 Be6 47 Rc2 Qg4 48 Kg2 Bd7 49 Kh2 49...Qh3+ 50 Kg1 Bc6 51 Rh2 and White's queen covers still the g3 pawn.
Mar-11-18  Fanques Fair: Caruana is showing definite courage in his 2 games so far. It seems he will more or less play for a win in every game until he has a leading margin. And I think this is the right arpoach : if you wanna win the candidates, you´ll be obliged to take some risks !

That's true, he could have won back the exchange with an easy draw after 22. Be2 but he played for the win instead with 22. Bc6. That's a good gladiator, thumbs up!

MissScarlett: In the post-game press conference, Ding almost achieved the impossible in making Fabiano seem interesting.
Mar-12-18  waustad: <HHM> It seems that what you hate is Standard time, not DST.
