Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-26-20  Andrew Chapman: The obvious 13.. f4 winning the bishop may actually be best, if the engine is anything to go by.
Apr-26-20  Andrew Chapman: 25.f3 is a blunder
Apr-26-20  catlover: According to SF, 25. Bb1 leads to equality.

tpstar: Black to Play and Win after 25. f3.
Apr-27-20  waustad: He’ll have nightmares about this, most likely.
Apr-27-20  OrangeTulip: Well played by Giri, in this sharp game.
Good for his confidence
Apr-27-20  Ulhumbrus: 8...g5 gives White's queen's bishop an unwelcome choice. On g3 Black's h pawn can attack it by ...h5 and ...h4 and Black's king's knight on e4 can take it while on e3 it obstructs the e pawn and invites the attack ...f5 and ...f4
Apr-27-20  dehanne: Giri got Carlsen's number.
Apr-27-20  MordimerChess: <Ulhumbrus> On g3 the bishop can be taken by the night, then central d4 pawn is lose and black play with extra pawn but not really secure king position. There are actually couple of games in database with Bg3. But as d4 pawn is pretty important - Be3 is preferred, preferred but ugly :D

My favourite line not played in the game:
17...Nxf5! 18. Rxg4+ Kh8 19. Bg5 Ne3!! 20. Qb1 (if 20. fxe3 Bxg4 21. Qb3 Qd7∓)

Also the one accidently showed by Lawrence Trent was pretty cool. Both of them I show in my video analysis:

Enjoy!

Apr-27-20  SChesshevsky: Seems Carlsen might have went with the relatively rare Ragozin 6. Bf4 once too much. Something Svidler has played, and beat Giri with it I think, but doesn't seem nearly as common as 6. Bg5. Though Carlsen tried it twice vs. Firouzja with success. Not surprising that appears Giri came well prepared for it and looks like Magnus just about got run over.
Apr-27-20  SirChrislov: amazing crazy game rich in complications. the line with < ...Nxf5 > is so
Apr-27-20  SirChrislov: ...something else.
Apr-27-20  SirChrislov: 15...g4!

now if Nf3, Lawrence Trent's line is amazing: 16.Nf3 Kh8 17. Ne5 Qxh4 18. Bg2 Qh2 19. Kf1 g3 20. Rh1 Bh3!! winning.
