Black played the C-K very well. For him, everything went right.

They are known as <Monopoly board moves>.

May-19-25  Andrew Chapman: White just seemed to give up control of the h file without a fight.
May-21-25  unspiek: White should have tried to prevent Black from building that Q-side space advantage. 14. b4, WTI b5, might have done that, whereas 14. Be3, as played, ignored that side of the board, and pretended that White already had the makings of a K-side attack. If White had tried b4 and b5, Black wouldn't have had such a bulletproof new home for his King, and White's K-side advance might not have just opened the door there for Black.

Must say, I really liked this game. Nimzowitsch would have been pleased with it.

May-25-25  Twilight of the Idol: <unspiek: White should have tried to prevent Black from building that Q-side space advantage. 14. b4, WTI b5, might have done that> That probably is an improvement, but I'd definitely still take black after 14. ... Nf5 15. Ne2 Qb5.

It seems like White's attack isn't a bad idea in and of itself, but I don't understand the g3-g4 two step and 24. f6, totally closing the kingside.

May-26-25  unspiek: <Twilight of the Idol> 24. f6 did look weird, after Black's King had just evacuated the premises. But if White didn't do that, all his King's cover could have evaporated as soon as Keymer wished. If you view 24. f6 as defensive, it looks less nonsensical.

White's game took an early downturn when he did nothing about Black's a-pawn's run to a3. After that, Black's game was more to my taste, too.
