offramp: It's Caruana v Wei Yi. He'll want the full point.

OhioChessFan: Oddly enough, there's only one other game with 6. Be3 in the database. Fab played it last year.

An Englishman: Good Morning: Thanks for the new game, CG. This game has exactly one precedent in the DB, and look who played White: Caruana vs V S Gujrathi, 2024

This could become very interesting.

OhioChessFan: Yi varied from that game hen he played 8...Be6 instead of Nc6. Blocking the e Pawn is odd, but I'm sure Yi has this.

OhioChessFan: <AE> yeah, I wonder if Yi intentionally deviated early.

An Englishman: Good Morning: <OCF>, yes, Black probably did not want to relive the pawn sacrifice followed by the Queen sacrifice in the previous game. In *this* game, would have looked long and hard at 10.c4 controlling d5 and intending 11.Ng5, but 10.Ne5 makes sense.

An Englishman: Good Morning: 12...c4--fascinating choice! Personally, would hate playing 13.dxc4. Looking at 13.Qxc4!?,Ne3; 14.Qxc6,Nxf1; 15.Kxf1 or 14...Nc2!?; 15.Na3,Nxa1; 16.Rxa1. Black has seen these, of course, possibly in pregame analysis. Wonder what Wei Yi has in mind.

  OhioChessFan: 13...Nb6 is obvious.

Korora: As of 17.b3, Yi has the ♗ pair. Yi also has two isolated ♙s.

An Englishman: Good Morning: This game just became very interesting--White dares Black to play 17...Qxa1; 18.Rxa1,Bxa1; 19.something takes c6. But Wei Yi will have two Bishops to go with the two Rooks. That looks concerning.

OhioChessFan: White to play his 28 looks dead drawn now.

An Englishman: Good Morning: Bishops of opposite color certainly makes the game look equal, and perhaps it has become a draw, but the extra pawn gives White a reason to continue. Have to run--pity, always liked endgames.

offramp: Fabi has contrived a win, at move 53.

Korora: Why is this listed with the wrong date?
Jun-03-25  sudoplatov: I read (somewhere) that BOC are drawish in themselves. BOC with Rooks favor the better developed. The Bishops cannot directly defend against each other.

HeMateMe: Fabio found a way to advance his b pawn.
