Honza Cervenka: In move 23 or 24 black should have played Qe7 with idea to counter eventual g4-g5 with e6-e5!

Nov-05-23  goodevans: A shame that the 'annotations by Joseph Henry Blackburne' are riddled with typos. There are so many that it's inconceivable these were present in the original and so I've submitted a correction slip to get them fixed. We'll see.

Even without the typos, it's weird how difficult I found it to interpret the descriptive notation considering that's what I grew up with. I remember the struggle I had switching to algebraic, particularly when playing Black, but having made the switch I can't think in descriptive any longer. The likes of <Kt-B4> get first interpreted as <...Kb4> before being corrected to <...Nf5>.

MissScarlett: Cleaned up the obvious errors, but I don't have the Anderson book to be certain of the text.
Nov-05-23  goodevans: Missed a couple: <King’s Kight’s Pawn> and <vulerable>. No big deal as it's so much better now anyway. Thanks.
Nov-05-23  YoungEd: These notes are downright expansive by Blackburne's laconic standards! Nice finish to the game.
Feb-22-24  Stolzenberg: <Blackburne's comment on 8. ... h6: "Probably intended as a waiting move, but it creates a weakness at the kingside.">

8. ... Bd7 is a much better wait and see move, as it creates no weakness at all.
