Jan-23-05  InfinityCircuit: Does anyone know why Steinitz annotated this game by MacLeod? He also annotates a second one in the database.
Jan-23-05  refutor: i imagine he annotated all the games to the 1889 US Chess Congress
Dec-05-14  Knight13: <Steinitz's notes: 11. Bg5 The waste of a move here with this Bishop has serious consequenses. He was, however, already on the defence and his position a little inferior. His best plan was 11.Qxd5 Nxd5 12.Nf1.> If, for example, 12... Bxd3 13. Bxd3 Nd5 14. Be2 (Bc2 Nc4) Re8 15. O-O-O, White is completely fine. But after 12... Re8 13. O-O-O Nxe3 14. Nxe3 Be6, White's position will remain a little inferior since his Knights' movements beyond the third rank are restricted, not to mention that Black's Bishop pair in this open game. White probably expected 11... Qe6 12. O-O or 11... Qxf3 12. Nxf3 Nd5?! missing ... Re8.
