Burn struck with 24.Rxf6! and after 24....Bxb3? 25.axb3, von Gottschall couldn't take the rook -- 25....gxf6 26.Qg4+ Kh8 27.Qh5 Kg7 28.Bf4 Rh8 29.Qg4+ Kf8 30.Nd7+.

If von Gottschall had taken the rook immediately, then after 24....gxf6 25.Nxf7! Bxf7 26.Bxd6 Qxd6 27.Bxf7+ Kxf7 28.Qh5+ Kg7 29.Rg3+ Qxg3 30.hxg3 Black could have fought on for a while.

  Retireborn: Houdini disapproves of 22...Nb4, but its suggestion of 22...Bg4 allows a nice Q sacrifice with 23.Qxg4! Nxg4 24.Nxd5 Qa7 25.Nxg4 Bxd3 26.Rxg3 Kh8 27.Ne5 and White is much better.
