  Penguincw: No kibitzing yet???
Apr-05-19  zydeco: <PenguinCW> Well, it is about as bland a chess game as I’ve ever seen. Marshall generously makes Berger a present of the two bishops. Berger has to do some calculating around the push with 21.d5, which yields a winning endgame. An example of Marshall going to pieces in simple positions.
Apr-05-19  sudoplatov: Marshall still finished only 1/2 out of first. He had pretty good run from 1904 to 1910 or so then again during the 1920s. I was told (by Bill Martz) that it takes a lot of mental energy and strain to play in that style and the one's results tend to be spotty. I always wondered if Marshall drank as much as Alekhine was supposed to have done. Marshall did seem to enjoy his chess a lot. What I haven't found is much about the personal friendships of various historical chess players with each other.
