Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-26-12  ozmikey: Nimzovich misses a much simpler win here by 25. Qxf7+ Kh8 26. Rf5! Bxd4+ 27. Kh1 (or even 27. Kf1), when the need to keep the f8 square adequately defended will cost Black his bishop (27...Qd6 or 27...Qb8 both allow the trick 28. Rxd4).

In the ending I get the feeling that Yates should have had at least a draw, but full marks to Nimzo for pushing on and winning it (although 59...f5?? helped).

As a matter of form what about <25... Qxf7> ?

Mar-26-12  King Death: <whiteshark> It looks like <ozmikey> meant the number 35 instead because if we renumber to move 35 the variations work just like he said. The back rank is weak and White stays up a rook with a pretty easy win.
Mar-26-12  whiteshark: <King Death> Roger that and thanks! :D
Mar-26-12  ozmikey: Sorry, yes, on move 35. (facepalm)

ray keene: sadly not one of nimzos best
Mar-26-12  paul1959: 36 Qxf7+ Kh8 37 Qf5 and compared to the game White has won a pawn and has cut the B King from the center and Q side. Time scramble or bad score?
