Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-12-07  Ulhumbrus: 8...Na5 places the N on the edge of the board. 8...Ne7 is better. It keeps the White B out of d5.

14..Rf8 relinquishes the right to castle. 14...Be6 prepares to castle, but it also invites b6 as White can then attack the Na5 by Qa4. This suggests 14...b6 making...Be6 possible.

15..f4 starts an attack with the Rooks still disconnected. Perhaps the idea is that on 16 0-0 Black castles by hand by ..b6 followed by the manoeuvre ..Ke8-d8-c7.

After 20 Kd2 White's Rooks are connected while Black's Rs are disconnected. After 24 Rg1 Both of White's R s are in play while Black's QR is out of play. Black's KR is placed passively, defending the f4 P and obstructing the 8th rank.

25 Rgh1 offers the f3 pawn in exchange for not just the the h3 pawn but also for occupation of the h file, and an attack arising out of this occupation. With 29 Rxh7 Nimzovich makes use of the h file to invade the 7th rank and to begin a mating attack.

Jun-12-07  nummerzwei: Nimzowitsch´s white square-strategy in this game is quite amazing. I would never find a move like 9.Bd5 over the board.

srkoziol: Agreed on 9.Bd5 - the engine calls it ?!, but nevertheless it is a very strong and insightful move.
Jan-29-23  whiteshark: You should look for alternatives for <17...gxh5>:
