Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-10-05  Gazman5: Future world champion beats champion with deep combination and superior endgame skill
Mar-20-06  Hongkonger: White to play and win at move 21 would make a nice puzzle - perhaps for a Tuesday.
Feb-02-08  meloncio: Alekhine playing in Paris 1920? I don't think so, and the year must be wrong. According to Kasparov's OMGP vol.I, and other sources, Alekhine went away from USSR in april 1921.
Feb-02-08  fatbob91: who in their right mind would play the scandinavian defense against Alekhine? it is far to tatical, your playing right into Alekhines strenghts.
Feb-02-08  Calli: <meloncio> Good point. The game is from a blindfold simul. The year, however, is unknown. This is a problem for databases!
Aug-11-08  Lutwidge: Hmm, you'd think black would at least try a4 in the final position, though it doesn't save the game.
Jan-13-09  WhiteRook48: wow, Alekhine beats the Champion.
Feb-06-17  RKnight: The end position is instructive. White wins, but just by one tempo. 41...Rxc4, 42 bxc4 gxh4, 43 Kxh4 a4, 44 Kh5 Kf7, 45 Bh6 a3, 46 Bc1 a2 47 Bb2 stops the a pawn just in time and wins. I guess this was easy for Alekhine to see, but not as easy for mere mortals.
