Mar-14-08  Knight13: Super-passive Bogo but super-defensive so 1/2-1/2.

Here Alekhine played 21...h6.

But how about 21...Rxd1+ 22.Qxd1▢ Nxe4.

That seems to win a pawn for nothing.

It is not the deepest combination in the history of humanity, is it?

Sep-02-16  Paarhufer: The first thought in such cases should always be: is the game-score correct?

I checked three printed sources from 1934 (e.g. http://anno.onb.ac.at/cgi-content/a...), and they all give 19. ♖bd1.

You are right. I can understand a game from some piss-poor tournament in the arse-hole of Serbia getting the game scores wrong, but how does one get the score wrong from a World Championship game?

May-09-20  RookFile: Bogo was kind of smart to just play for a draw. It was early in the match, and this was the first time Alekhine played the QGA in this match. Bogo must have figured that Alekhine had some sharp preparation ready. So, he figured he'd just make a draw in this game, and study the QGA more, as it would be likely he'd see it again later in the match.
