Oct-23-12  newzild: Quite a cool game - might even be GOTD-worthy.

Title: "From A to Z".

Oct-24-12  iking: it seems

  al wazir: Black draws with 32...Rxh2+ 33. Qxh2 (33. Kg1 Bd4+ 34. Kf1 Rh1#) Qe1+ 34. Qg1 Qxe4+ 35. Qg2 Qe1+.
Aug-16-16  abhijithsiva: White exposed early
Aug-16-16  The Kings Domain: Notable game of the day in the sense that it's noteworthy to see the great Anderssen's legendary attacking and sacrificial prowess stopped in its tracks. Zytogorski sure proved himself one of the top players of the day with this bout.

And a fine pun too. :-)

piltdown man: Why is nobody called Adolf these days?
Aug-16-16  goodevans: Surely white had better moves at his disposal than 19.Bxa8. Maybe 19.Rh4.

<piltdown man: Why is nobody called Adolf these days?>

That made me smile, but, from this 2010 article http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/new...: <Last year a shop in New Jersey, USA, refused to supply a birthday cake bearing the message "Happy Birthday Adolf Hitler" for three year old Adolf Hitler Campbell, whose sister is named Aryan Nation Campbell.>

Aug-16-16  whiteshark: <12.Nf7!> would have kept White alive.

I was on the five-man panel that met to discuss future Games of The Day in 2013.

We argued about this one for 40 minutes. Some said it was too early - "It is too soon! The family will be disappointed and upset."

I said the pun should be used immediately!

That day - the day we met!

"Use it now or I resign the committee!"

But I shilly-shallyed, as usual. I agreed to put this pun onto a large barrel and use it after 4 years.

And here it is!

Aug-16-16  Ironmanth: Great game!
Aug-16-16  kevin86: A surprise winner! It looked bad for AA since the start.
Aug-16-16  BSizzle: <whiteshark>, what about 12. Ne6? It traps the black queen save for 12. ... Qxh5, and after 13. Qxh5 gxh5, white has 14. Nf7+. White may only have a R for B+N, but his DSB is pretty dominant.
Aug-16-16  morfishine: I was a right winger in college

My nickname was "Z"
