Feb-25-03  kostich in time: Another Sicilian "brilliancy prize" game by Botvinnik...Like the game against Rauzer it features a thematic sac,but played as part of an original plan

Honza Cervenka: 14.gxf6 Rxe3 (what else?) 15.Qxe3 Bxf6 16.Rad1 would have been probably better reaction on Botvinnik's sac of exchange. Black's Bishop pair compensates white's material advantage of exchange for Pawn but chances of both sides would have been roughly equal.

Padevsky's 20.Qh5 was a blunder. 20.Nf3 Qxc3 21.Qe1 was still playable for white, although black position is somewhat better.
