Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-15-11  Pyke: Pretty straight-forward attacking game by Fradkin.

14. Bg5 is a mistake, because it allows 14. ... Ng4, with the devastating threat of Ne3+ forking king and queen.

So the rook on h4 cannot be taken.

Sep-16-11  Peter Nemenyi: An interesting game, but who was Fradkin Anton, to beat Botvinnik? This is his only game in the database, and Googling his name just leads back here. Perhaps he was one of the USSR's innumerable expert-level players, facing Botvinnik in a simul?

"Anton Fradkin" is a far more plausible form of his name, but searching for that version doesn't solve the mystery.

Feb-14-13  King Crusher: I can find no record of a tournament or team event been played in Sverdlosk 1965. Pretty certain it was a simul.
Surprised that Botvinnik allowed black to trade light squared bishops. 7.Rb1 or 7.Nd5 both look more natural. As played black gains a strong attacked against white's weakened king position.
