Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-06-06  ToTheDeath: Very nice. Psakhis never got a chance to develop properly.
Jan-13-09  Ychromosome: In the final position white is going to win a piece, but also look at the placement of black's remaining pieces!
Jul-03-10  jerseybob: Psakhis mishandles the opening pretty badly, although he was still years away from the the strong GM he later became. Still, a fine job by Botvinnik, well into his 60's.
Jun-30-13  jeupham: We (BCM) asked Lev about this game (via Facebook) and he was not involved. Nor, I suspect was Botvinnik.
Jun-30-13  whiteshark: <jeupham: We (BCM) asked Lev about this game (via Facebook) and he was not involved. Nor, I suspect was Botvinnik.>

All this needs some clarification...

Jul-07-15  EhsanBalani: Why did white play 6.Cc3 ignoring the c4-pawn?
Jul-07-15  Nerwal: Because 6. ♘c3 ♕xc4 7. e4 offers White compensation for the pawn. Black almost always declines with 6... a6 (but not always after the further offer 7. ♗g2 now that b5 is covered).

MissScarlett: This game, along with a few others, have been reattributed from Botvinnik to Botterill on the strength of this 2013 discussion on the <ECF> (https://www.ecforum.org.uk/viewtopi...).

However, this one still presents problems. Does Psakhis's disavowal hold, or did it only apply when he thought Botvinnik was the opponent? Would Botterill have merited an invitation to play in the Soviet Union?

Mar-17-19  zanzibar: Oh wow, wow, simply wow.

PGN headers:

<
[White "Mikhail Botvinnik"]
[Black "Lev Psakhis"]
>

Yet the attribute at the top of the page:

<
George Steven Botterill vs Lev Psakhis
>

The software should be set up to ensure such a disconnect never occurs.

Mar-17-19  zanzibar: <MissS> you are indeed stunning, let me count the ways....

"I should say this— that <Missy> doesn't have a mink coat. But she does have a respectable Republican cloth coat. And I always tell her that she'd look good in anything"
