Jan-06-07  Ron: Just came across this game by one of my chess heroes, Tarrasch. 38. Rxg5! is the beginning of the winning attack.
Also notice the doubled pawn structures: it is true that Tarrasch sacrificed pawn structure for mobility.

This might make for a good later in the week puzzle.

Jan-06-07  euripides: Fascinating stuff. I guess Chigorin's g5 is just too extravagant, but it takes a lot of care to refute it; Tarrasch gradually destroys Chigorin's structure. I think this is probably one of the greatest full-length matches between major players outside a world championship cycle.
