Kibitzer's Corner
May-08-04  CambridgeSprings1904: It appears the the move 10...Nbd5 should actually be 10...Nfd5. At least two sources, including the Daily Bulletin from the tournament, give the move in Descriptive Notation as KKt-Q4. After move 14, the distinction is irrelevant.

Honza Cervenka: 40.Bd3! is rather simple but nice final shot.

Phony Benoni: I've been taking a break today to look at games from Cambridge Springs 1904, as they appeared in the first issue of the "American Chess Bulletin", June 1904. 10...Nfd5 is another possible correction. If nothing else, it seems more like than 10...Nbd5 because of Lasker's reply, 11.Bg3.
Feb-24-19  zydeco: An extreme example of what happens when blacks fails to solve the light-squared bishop problem in the QGD. 14....c5 seems like the way to go.

What's given in <Why Lasker Matters>?

Jul-12-22  Chessist: Soltis gives 10....Nbd5. But what this prolific writer says is irrelevant. The actual move played is 10...Nfd5.

MissScarlett: <Whyld (1998)> has <10...Nbd5> on the authority of <The Book of the Cambridge Springs International Tournament, p. 3.> but that wasn't published until 1935.

I'm happy to accept that the June 1904 <ACB> and daily bulletins deserve precedence: http://cs1904.com/referenc.htm.

Jul-12-22  Chessist: Reinfeld 1935, page 3 gives "KKt-Q4".
