HeMateMe: I think there shoudl be a pun contest, with a theme. All puns must have a Beatles reference.

I thought it was Day Tripper not Day Quitter.

Dec-03-11  Manofglory: I wonder where black went wrong. It seemed ok and suddenly Nb5, Na4 and queen's gone. How about 12...Nb4 ? It allows Qa5, and Qe6 etc. and threatens Nc2+.

HeMateMe: Holy S____! Benoni has Beatles on his mind. When I saw the above games, I almost went Helter Schlecter! But, a quick walk over to Strawberry Fines calmed me down, wheh!
Dec-03-11  whiteshark: I'm glad all over. It's fixing a hole. It's getting better. Good ♘, hello good bye...

HeMateMe: Donald Byrne should have called <Doctor Robert> for help in his game against Fischer.
Dec-03-11  erniecohen: This is just stupid. 13...♕a5 and Black is fine. Day just had a momentary brain cramp.

Penguincw: Those connected passed pawns of white's on the queenside are going to be fast.
Dec-03-11  lentil: <This is just stupid. 13...Qa5 and Black is fine. Day just had a momentary brain cramp.> I suspect that this was a speculative sac. Black got a huge amount of counterplay for his exchange of a Q = 9 pts for 2 pieces (and a pawn) = 7 pts; he had nasty threats that persisted for 20 moves or more. However, I would like to hear Mr Day's thoughts about this.

AylerKupp: <erniecohen> Yes, his brain turned to yellow matter custard. See G Wall vs R Granat, 2006.
Dec-03-11  kevin86: White could immediately exchange queen for rook and win with the a-pawn

A circus of forks in this one.

Dec-03-11  bischopper: <phony benoni> I think that every game has something in common like white win or queen in sack so... Only the songs from beatles

Phony Benoni: <bischopper> I was only looking for "puns" that were titles of songs by the Beatles. The fact that White won most of them was a coincidence, and Games of the Day often feature spectacular sacrificicial play.

  IMlday: 13..Qxb5 was too speculative of course but after 13.. Qa5 14. Qxa5 Nxa5 15. Nc7+ Kf8 16. Bg2 exd4 17. exd4 Be4 he has 18. f3! Bc2 19. Nc5 Nc6 20. f4 Nxd4 21. Nxd5 and White gets a draw because the awkward ♗ blocks the fork.

GrahamClayton: 56. ♖h2 is an unusual way to trap the bishop, with the Black king blocking any possible escape moves along the diagonal.
