Sep-26-04  Swindler: Funny game, the Black Queen makes the strange move to e7 and then stays there for 41 moves until the end of the game!
Sep-26-04  dafish298: the whole basis behind the gunderam..or (2...Qe7) is to castle queenside or at least that is what i thought..radjabov played this surprise opening against adams at the FIDE KO tourney only to end up a draw when he needed to win

IMlday: This is from the only Canadian Closed I won clearly. Since I'd started 4-0 Kevin decided that freakers were required; hence 2..Qe7!? But White is clearly slightly better until the stupid 16.a6? when Black gets on top. At move 30 I decided to gamble since things were only going to get worse if he got time to play ..Ng6-h8-f7-g5etc. Fortunately for me he only had a minute on the clock for moves 30-40. Hence 38..Ne5? and 39..Rf6?? making the time control but destroying his great position. I was lucky that the bluff paid off! :-) Incidentally, Kevin had the perfect job for a chessplayer--he was a train conductor so the geographic disadvantage of living in Winnipeg didn't matter; he could be in Montreal one weekend and Vancouver the next while being paid to travel between!
Apr-21-05  Shokwave: The black ♕e7, sitting there through the whole game, is hilarious.
