Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-10-04  wall: 24...h5 loses the e-pawn. Perhaps 24...Ng4 instead.

26.Qg3 Qxg3 27.Rxg3 wins or 26.Qe7, threatening 27.Qxf7+ and 27.Qxa7.

Nov-02-09  Garech: I think black's plan in this game of giving his opponent three connected passed pawns in order to give up the exchange is a bit dubious.
Mar-21-11  dhotts: There must be something wrong in the notation, as it appears that 24...Ng4 wins. Black has two bishops bearing down on the king in the corner and is threatening mate in 1. The only choice I see is 25.Qxg4 Qxg4 26.Rg1 or Rg3 and Black has a winning position. What am I missing?

technical draw: <dhotts> If 24..Ng4 then white plays 25.Rh3. After exchanges whites Q-side pawns win.
Mar-21-11  dhotts: <technical draw> Good thought but, 24...Ng4 25.Rh3 Qxh3 and white cannot recapture since the g-pawn is pinned. Mate is now 1 move away. Any other ideas?

technical draw: <dhotts> My idea works but someone put a bishop on c6 to mess me up! Ok, how about the simple 25.h3 returning the exchange and winning with the pawns?
Mar-21-11  fab4: @ <dhotts> just 24.h3
Mar-21-11  fab4: Sorry, 25.h3 Presumably that's why fischer put his rook on the third rank.. to guard against Qh3.
