After watching MAGNUS & Hikaru's 97 Mover, This game is Amateurish at BEST! WHITE may have had a QUEEN, but was Totally "OUTGUNNED" by BLACK and should have QUIT way before he did! Tuning in Mr. Peabody's WAY BACK MACHINE... I personally have WON a REAL TOURNAMENT Game with a QUEEN in a similar situation against a Player rated 299 points more than I. I did have some advantages though! 1.My opponent had WHITE, so as BLACK, I had choice of EQUIPMENT! D♖UE♔E ♙ieces, (Just ♗efore ULTIMATES), JE♖GE♖ Clock (♗efore Digitals were worth a S%*T & ♙opular), and an A♗SOLUTELY ♙LAI♘ VI♘YL ♗OA♖D 2. Did I mention that this was during the time that The US was going ALGEBRAIC? 3. My Opponent,(who actually WAS a Friend & fellow Organizer) was evidently going ALGEBRAIC! During the game, I saw him doing his ABC's across the board Quite a Few Times! 4. He became even Deeper DEMORALIZED when Early in the game I knew I could WIN, but instead I figured I'd make my Move and OFFER Him a DRAW. "D" became TOTALLY P@**%D OFF! We Played on and it was getting Obvious that I was Going To W I N! If memory serves me correctly his use of TIME was also a problem as I had used about 23 minutes of so and he had used well over three times that. In fact HE SHOULD HAVE RESIGNED, but DRAGGED it out to MATE 69 Moves as he was looking for anything at this point not to lose, even one or more STALEMATES that I saw and avoided! Did I mention that he walked into the same TRAP TWICE! When done he barely, (if he even did), shook my hand and left the room as fast as his two legs could fly without actually running! HE WAS TOTALLY KRUSHED! Lucky for me it was written down and It is still surviving in Multiple places now.
I guess "D" made a Few Mistakes!! 1A. He TOTALLY UNDERESTIMATED His Opponent! 2B. Should have Taken The DRAW OFFER 40 or so moves earlier. His "ATTITUDE" after the DRAW OFFER was so Horrible that I decided then to CONCENTRATE & W I N!
3C. Probably should have switched back to descriptive OR Learned ALGEBRAIC a Wee Bit Better before the Tournament!
Unfortunately we did not discuss the game afterwards, so I will never know the answers to WHY he did what he did that day in KANSAS!
Back to The Current Day! or actually 1883! Ole WILFRIED Dragged his game to 51 Moves. At least he did NOT drag it out to MATE! Nakamura would have Totally DESTROYED Both of these guys with No trouble at all!
