  Phony Benoni: Some interesting complications here, starting with the surprising 22.Be6. Maybe Black should have gone ahead and taken the knight; after 22...axb5 23.Rxg7 Kxg7 24.Rc7+ Rd7 25.Bxd7 Nxd7 26.Rxd7+ Kg8 his position is not that good, but he does have opposite-colored bishops to hope with.

After 22...Bc6, the knight kept going wacko-sacko and Black never felt he could take it.

  perfidious: <Phony Benoni> In your line after 25.Bxd7, maybe Black can try 25....Nd5 instead, although defending this is a grim business either way. The bishop pair on the open board or opposite bishops and a passive position where a pawn goes, with likely more to follow, is a hard practical decision.

Ivanov's 23.Na7 is an echo of the classic finish in Keres vs Flohr, 1937, where Black has just played 19....a6 in the diagram below:
