White to move.
ANALYSIS [x]
Notes by LowenthalBlack must take the knight, for if ...dxe5, White replies Bxf7+, etc. This is a good move, for when the knight comes to e3, it can be played either to d5 or f5 with great advantage. To have taken on f7 would have been dangerous. He could not exchange knight without losing his e-pawn.Remarkably well played, securing a free file for the queen’s rook and opening a diagonal for his queen’s bishop to attack the king’s position.Bxc7 would also have been a powerful reply as a check would have been threatened to both king and queen.this was a very unadvisable step, and one by which his game is terribly compromised.Taking due advantage of the imprudent advance of the f-pawn.If white had taken rook instead, Black would have saved his Queen with ...Re8. It is evident that if, on rook takes rook, the queen had reataken, mate would have followed in two moves. All this is astonishingly well played, when we consider that it is played blindfold, and with so many games at hand at the same time.1-0

Dec-18-02  bishop: 21...f5? and 22...Rxf5? missed the winning 23.Nb6+
Nov-16-03  drukenknight: is 20...g4 better?
May-14-04  matrix: To paraphrase Nimzo, Don't put the question to the Bishop without a closed center.
May-06-05  soberknight: A Born Man...
Jun-07-05  prinsallan: 2 masters in action, with that I mean Morphy playing and Lowenthal annotating. I just love his annotations. Witty, solid and
very good explaning.
Jun-07-05  Pawn Ambush: Morphy was a Pin Master!! Hey that would make a nice handle!
Aug-07-09  tentsewang: I can just say WOW to Morphy's brilliancy. He pins the queen and advances to a point with playing blind folded move that he take the opponent's queen and sacrifices own queen for its new reincarnation with the pinning bishop. It is completely forced like if he did magic on his adversary each time. Wonderful!!
Aug-29-09  WhiteRook48: and how his opponent got the queen back at the end and lost anyway
Nov-11-18  Mini Morphy: When he is able to Play 8 Players in this Genius way blindfold, it almost feels absurdly even try to Play 1 game with open eyes like him.
May-31-21  paulmorphy1969: mber have info of this player Bornemann.
the complete name? or other info? Thanks for help
