Apr-20-20  thegoldenband: This opening line was duplicated (via transposition) through move 15 in Dlugy vs V Vulfson, 2012, and move 13 in J Halldorsson vs S Bergsson, 2004, with draws resulting. However Stockfish thinks the whole line is good for Black from move 13 on.

Apparently White's last chance for a small advantage is to play 13. b4 with the idea of 13...♗xb4 14. ♗e3 winning the exchange. Or vary earlier, as in G Tunik vs Y R Yakovich, 1998, though Stockfish isn't keen on 11. ♗g5 in that game (or 11. O-O in this one) and prefers 11. axb5.

perfidious: One wonders whether Kovacevic found all the moves in this game, or got Soviet help as he had in another of his wins from this event.

Far as the actual course of the game, my impression is that Black stood well in this middlegame with his spatial edge and free play; advocates of Les Blancs will likely have to go back to the drawing board for improvements.
