Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-18-05  ThunderStorm: Very good positional game from Petrosian once again!
Jan-11-10  elohah: I have annotated this game, because it
is star strategical play by Tigran
Petrosian.

But it's the '59 Petrosian, so I start
with Black's one bobble (my opinion).

25...? Black fakes himself out here.

25...Rb1! looks right:

26 Qd2 Qd8!
27 Rxa7 Rxe1+
28 Qxe1 Re8

taking over the e-file. 'As Petrosian's technique develops more, he won't be afraid to give these
types of pawns back.'

29 Qa5
(One possibility; On 29 Qd2, maybe
29...Qf6 (idea ...Qf4, maybe?) or
29...Re2; this 29th move, admittedly, is the one questionable part of my analysis)

29...Qxa5
30 Rxa5 Re1+
31 Bf1 Nf3+
32 Kg2 Nd2!
33 Bb5 Rb1
34 Bd3 Rb2

Black has excellent play.

Jan-11-10  elohah: White could have played 30 Qe7! in
the game (notice Petrosian preventing
this on his next move).

30...! Plus for Black! (once again).

37 If Qxa5, 37...c3! wins.
Notice the BQ covering three(!) squares that White could go to stopping the further advance of this pawn, and the knight controls a fourth!
