Sep-03-07  wolfmaster: Najdorf's main problem in the late middlegame was his inactive bishops.

An Englishman: Good Evening: Another upset victory for one of the greatest IMs, but methinks Black tried too hard to win with 37...f5. 37...Na6 takes the game very close to a draw by three-time repetition of position. Instead, Najdorf just gives Kottnauer targets on the King side.
Apr-20-14  Tim Delaney: In the end position, white simplifes to an easily won K+P ending:

58. ... Bh5, 59. Qb1+ Bg6, 60. Bg8+
and all the pieces come off.

<FSR The pun seems more than a little forced.> Agreed, but I think the pun is barely saved by the fact that it's Easter.

Apr-20-14  morfishine: There's no use splitting hares over this pun
Apr-20-14  sofouuk: <methinks Black tried too hard to win with 37...f5>this is true in the sense that white was a bit better when f5 was played, but there's no way a higher rated player worth his salt should be acquiescing to a draw in that position. 42...Bg7 was the first mistake (Qe5)and 43...Nxe4 (allowing the WQ to penetrate) was the second (rybka). black may have lost this one, but if you play on against lower rated players in such positions you'll win far more than you lose
Apr-20-14  JohnBoy: I suppose the finish is 58...Bh5 59.Qc2+ Bg6 60.Bg8+ Kg8 61.Qg6+ Bg7 62.Kf3 (b - anything reasonable) 63.Qg7+ Qg7 64.Bg7 Kg7 65.Kf4 with an easy ride home.
Apr-20-14  007chess: http://www.sciencedaily.com/release... You may never look at your computer chess game the same again. But then again you could realize that this is a bunch of BS
Apr-20-14  TheTamale: <FSR>: Agreed re: the pun. Unfortunately, I couldn't come up with any better. "Welcome Back Kottnauer" and "You've Kottnauer to Beat This Guy" were the best I could do. And neither is Easter related.

*****

Apr-20-14  Everett: chessgames laid an egg with this pun.
Apr-20-14  Gilmoy: I chuckled at <11.b3 12.Bb2> against a KID. OK, maybe it discourages a Nd4 tour. (Perhaps Black chuckles at the thought of Nd4 in a KID --)

But then <37..f5 40..e4> opens the door cheaply, and <44.Qc8+> cleverly pins the Bf8.

I guess it cut both ways: Black thought opening the long diagonal gave his Bg7 some scope.

Apr-21-14  kevin86: I saw the Easter Bunny in Cleveland- he was riding the "rabbit".

Najdorf lays an egg in this one!
