Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-11-02  Ghoul: I do not understand what black was trying to accomplish with moves 21 through 24. His pieces are all fenced in.
Dec-11-02  Vilkacis: I do not either, obviously some kind of attack. It looked like a kingside attack first, then veered. Maybe he was drifting.

offramp: In one of these J Polgar-Spassky Spanish Breyer games - I think it is this one - Spassky rather lazily transposed moves; he played 11...♖e8 & 12...♗b7.

This might seem harmless but it allows white to win immediately...

11...♖e8 12.♗xf7+ ♔xf7

(12...♔h8 13.♘g5 c6 14.♕b3 ♖f8 15.♘e6 ♕b6 16.♘xf8 )

13.♘g5+ ♔g8 14.♘e6 .

Judith either didn't see it or - more likely - sportingly decided to ignore it in favour of continuing her theoretical argument with Spassky in the Breyer.

The game score was altered when published - believe me, it did happen!
