Honza Cervenka: 31...Ra6 was a mistake with fatal consequences. 31...Rb8 would have been okay. In the game after 32.Bxb4 Rxa2 33.Qg3 white threatens with 34.e6. Schlechter played 33...Nf8 but after that Tarrasch played pretty 34.Be7! with decisive effect. Alternative defence of black 33...Ra6 would have been answered by another crushing blow 34.Bd6!

If 38...Kg8, then 39.h5, if 38...Ke8, then 39.Qb7.

  Honza Cervenka: Of course, if 33...Ra6 34.Bd6! cxd6, then 35.e6 Qf8 (35...Qg6 36.exd7 ; 35...Qxe6 36.Qg7#) 36.e7 Qf7 (36...Qxe7 37.Qg8#) 37.e8=Q+ with unavoidable mate.
