Eric Schiller: Shamkovich used his pet line with Qd3 to crush a famous theoretician with typical Shamkovich tactics and sacrifices!
May-13-05  aw1988: Qd3 has of course been played before, but I definitely frown upon it.
Jan-29-06  Tino Martinez: I think move 17---0-0 was pretty bad....i think the king would have been a lot safer on f8....
Jun-06-12  screwdriver: With g-file wide open and the black king on it, the knight d5 sacrifice was pure genious. It opens up f5 for his other knight and once the bishop moves to h5 to clear a trail for the white queen to get to g4, it's time to resign for black. Shamkovich must've been a great player. It's hard to believe the knight d5 sicilian sacrifices were going strong in 1959.
Aug-21-12  DanielBryant: I just went through this one on Guess the Move and kept wanting to play Rhe1 to force something in the center. Clearly, Shamkovich had his eyes on the kingside instead.
