Jul-21-09  tranquil simplicity: I am a regular Dragon player who recently discovered for himself that the Soltis variation is somewhat dubious against the Yugoslav. However I observed that the Sosonko variation is very positionally sound and actually carries a more potent queenside attack against White. It seems to me that not many practitioners have noticed it! Am i missing something or deluding myself?
Sep-10-12  Class A player: Reply to Tranquil Simplicity. If you look at the statistics you will find that 9---Nd7 has done very well against 10 o-o-o but not well versus 10 h4. This game is an exception. The critical mistake was 29 Re1? overlooking Blacks' reply. You will notice that White comes away with an extra pawn in this line but it's not easy to make it count because the bishops have more scope than White's knights.
