Mar-16-19  Delboy: It seems to me that white could have played the thematic Nxf7 on move 13 (if 13. ... Kxf7 then 14. Qxe6+ Kf8 15. Bc4 Ne5 16. Qxe5 +-) or on move 16 (if 16. ... Kxf7 then 17. Qxe6+ Kf8 18. Qg8#). Would that not have decided the game sooner?

  kingscrusher: It doesn't work here

White is not "beyond defeat" as the Art of war philosophy goes:

"Put yourself beyond defeat before going onto the attack".

Here White has a weak back rank and it is punishable:

Andre Lilienthal - Juri Randviir 1-0 10.0, Parnu Parnu URS 1947
