  perfidious: A key positional point is that Larsen could only play ....Bxc3 in this middlegame because he had also got in ....c5, denying d4 to the enemy, an idea more commonly seen in subvariations of the Averbakh and Saemisch lines. The play surrounding White's attempts to enforce g3-g4 and his opponent's countermeasures is also thematic.
