Oct-12-02  maykx: I think the best reply for 7.e6 is Qd6. Whenever black (as I have experienced, especially in Blitz games) takes the pawn, it hampers its position just like what happened in this game.
Oct-12-02  drukenknight: What about 5....h5?

Sneaky: maykx, I think you're right ... see Hahn vs Alekhine, 1941

druke, I don't know what you mean. 5...h5 6. fxe4 drops the bishop, doesn't it?

Oct-12-02  drukenknight: I am not fully understanding this position yet. When he bring the B out and it starts getting hit by pawsn on the 4th move he cant keep moving it back and forth can he?

That would mean a loss of tempo and then the move comes back to white so he's ahead of the game.

OTOH when 4...Be4 he is in better position than he was w/ only one B move. So that move may be okay.

Its the 5th move that loses. He's now moved the B three times to get to a spot g6 that he could have reached in two moves. That's definitely loss of tempo, even dk can see that.

SO after 5 moves, black has definitely lost a move in there. Since white starts the game, he is now two moves ahead. You cant spot white a tempo like that.

Thus black's 5th move here definitely loses. Just have tofind proper 5th move.

What is it? hmmm

Oct-12-02  drukenknight: Oh I see now, I am worried about losing tempo, therefore I will gain time w/ 5...Qa5+

NOw your turn.
