ANALYSIS [x]
Notes by SchiffersThe move Bg5, before Castling, is not dangerous. Here Mason would probably have played Be3.Black?s Knight starts immediately for d4.In order to give the Knight room at e2.White threatened Rxc6.Threatening Rxd4, exd4, Qxc7.In order to take d-pawn, after the above-mentioned moves.After ...c1=Q would follow 61 Rd7 Rxd7 62 Rxd7 Qxd7 (otherwise Qg6+) 63 Qxd7+ and after a few moves winning the rook on b3 and remaining with a pawn ahead and a better position.Cleverly played.If c1=Q then 62 dxe5 Qa1 (or b2) 63 exf6+ Qxf6 64 Rxf6 Qxf6 65 Rg8+, etc.1/2-1/2

Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-18-08  Lutwidge: What an absolutely bizarre game. White's opening and middlegame looked like Nakamura on ICC playing blitz vs Rybka, and then somehow 61. d4 saves his arse. Amazing. :)
Jan-19-15  poorthylacine: It seems Albin could force a splendid win in the endgame, by playing 62.Rc6!!: for example 62...Rbd7 63RxR RxR 64.dxe5! Re7 65.ex6+ Qxf6 66.Rg8+! Kxg8 67.Qxf6 c1Q 68. Qxe7 and with two pawns more the rest should be just a question of technique...
