  An Englishman: Good Evening: Was Black the same Statham who sponsored the Lone Pine tournaments? Incidentally, Tim Harding liked to call this the Frankenstein-Dracula Variation, on the theory that if those two notables ever sat down to a game of chess, this is what they'd play.

Oct-02-19  BwanaVa: Yes, this presumably Louis Statham of Lone Pine fame. He played correspondence for years, then began the tournament so he could see top flight chess close to home.
