  jaime gallegos: yes shr0pshire !
Sep-29-04  Spassky69: Ahem, who said Kramnik was too strong for Morozevich?! I guess winning with the black pieces against a world champion still doesn't prove you can hang with the super elite.
Sep-30-04  acirce: You're right, <Spassky69>; individual games don't prove that. Nor does really individual tournaments, but for the record, he lost to Ivanchuk, Adams and Leko in the same event and ended up 6th with +1

With that said, winning with Black against Kramnik IS of course spectacular.

Nov-07-04  Bluelapis: Great endgame. Applaud to you.
Nov-07-04  Spassky69: <Bluelapis> Your my new favorite poster.
Nov-08-04  acirce: Where did Kramnik go wrong? How is 42.Kd3 for example, stopping Black from penetrating: 42..Ne7 43.Ke3, 42..Bb5+ 43.Nxc4+ Bxc4 44.Kxc4
Nov-09-04  Poisonpawns: Here are some notes by Morozevich: Better was 9...Nb4 10.e4 Be6 or 9..exd4 11.Qd4! if cxd4 black has difficulty developing 40.c5?? moro suggest 40.Nc1!white is ok
Dec-29-04  morostyle: nice king activity by moro he shows some balls here forcing kramnik into a bad lose
Jan-07-05  Stella Mar: Wow ..that was great .....morozevich did the most on the end-game .....thats y i like him...Im dreaming to see him someday !!!hope so !
Jan-07-05  Dave Murray: I believe this was a first loss by Kramnik as a WC.
Jan-07-05  csmath: Morozevich can beat anybody. He has a natural killer instict and with better preparation he would be something of an Anand. ;-))
Jan-07-05  TylerD: Interesting to see what he can do in Corus next week... His showing in the russian CH was very very very disappointing... So, it seems he could do anything from winning Corus to placing himself dead last...
Jan-07-05  RisingChamp: Cant say his opening style is better or worse than Anands excellent preparation-it is entirely differnt.Morozevich does not really have a repertoire-he just plays different openings all the time tries to avoid mainlines. He has had several spectacular successes in the unfamiliar positions he has generated so its really difficult to say.
Jun-01-05  Whitehat1963: An excellent example of the Opening of the Day.
Oct-22-05  alexandrovm: and here is the only game Alexander won against Kramnik in the past.
Oct-22-05  alexandrovm: nice to see, while white hunts a piece, black hunts down all the white pawns. Maybe there could have been something better for Kramnik in this game.

plang: Kramnik could not have been expecting 7..Nd5!? which Morozovich had seen a little known Yugoslav player use twice. Morozovich's 9..Nxc3?! has not been repeated; 9..Nb4 or 9..exd are preferable. 11 Qxd4! made it difficult for Black to develop his king bishop. Somewhere the edge that White developed in the opening had disappeared; perhaps 31 f6..g6 32 Nf3 would have been an improvement. Black could have taken the pawn with 33..Bxf5 but it is not clear that it would have improved his winning chances. In time trouble White erred with 40 c5? allowing the invasion of the Black king; 40 Nc1 would have been preferable with equality. After a second error 41 Nd2? White was clearly worse; better would have been 41 Nd4..a3 42 c6..Be8 43 Nc2..a2 44 Kb2..Bf7 45 Nb4..Bc4 with only a small Black edge. A cute zugzwang would have been 47 Nb8..a3 48 Kc3 (48 Kb3..Bb5 49 Kxa3..Kxg4 50 Be4..Kf4 51 Bc2..h5 and wins) 48..Bb5 49 Bf3..Kg3 50 Bd1..h6 (if 51 Kb3..Ba4+!).

<but for the record, he lost to Ivanchuk, Adams and Leko in the same event and ended up 6th with +1>

Actually, he finished in a tie for 5th (with Adams and Shirov) at +2.

Oct-26-17  Everett: <acirce> is long gone, perhaps due to the superfluity of pedants on this site.

perfidious: <acirce: You're right, <Spassky69>; individual games don't prove that. Nor does really individual tournaments....>

Dang it, that blows the thesis of not a few posters here at CG, who appear to believe that one is as good, or bad, as one's last game or tournament result.

Shows what I know.

May-23-20  Everett: I certainly don’t miss fanboys of any player, tho. <acirce> never failed to get butthurt when someone said something less than celebratory toward his daddy Kramnik.
