Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-05-02  bishop: An absolutely wonderful game by the 10 year old grandmaster to be. He nicely refutes Black's dubious opening play (Too many Pawn moves in the opening) by quickly opening up the position. The passed d-Pawn decides the game.

freewheel: Very good punning title. thanks
Mar-17-20  morfishine: Now this pun works and the game is good enough too
Mar-17-20  jith1207: Why? Is Baranjuk a Crimean? Tatar?

I'm trying to understand why the game between these two players is selected for the 'pun'.

Mar-17-20  BareKing: jith: the game was played in Simferopol, Crimea.
Mar-17-20  jith1207: Oh, it is. thank you <BareKing>.
Mar-17-20  Ironmanth: The "must promote" d pawn. Dastardly play by Sergey! Thanks, chessgames. Y'all stay alert, well, and motivated out there in chess land, and enjoy the Candidates.

Breunor: Playing through this as a patzer I thought black should take the d pawn with 23 Bxd5. After running Stockfish for 1 minute, it ranks both (moves Bxd5 and Nd7) almost exactly the same, Bxd5 is evaluated after -.67 and Nd7 at -.69.
Mar-17-20  morfishine: <jith1207> Took me a few minutes to tie it to the Tournament's geographic location
Mar-17-20  jith1207: Oh, I see it now. I didn't even know about Simferopol City until now, sorry about that. I'd not have looked up even if I had noticed in the title credits above. Thanks for clearing up.
