Dec-31-09  mysql: <i'm sure this helps bro <mysql> hehe..>

What about if white plays 8. e5? I'm pretty sure black still has the advantage after that, but at least white doesn't lose a piece immediately.

Dec-31-09  zanshin: <mysql: What about if white plays 8. e5?>

Bro, you mean <8.e4>, right? The resignation might have been early, but may be justified.

Dec-31-09  mysql: <Bro, you mean <8.e4>, right?>

Sorry, yeah I meant 8. e4.

Mar-08-12  whiteshark: You mean Gross is not nett?

Huh, who knew.

Apr-04-15  A.T PhoneHome: <This was certainly a sub-Urban performance.> Clever one, <BishopofBlunder>!

My suggestion is Gross Manifest.

Jun-11-16  whiteshark: Gross indecency!

A possible continuation after 8. e4 is 8...e5 <If now 9. Bg5, then 9...exd4 10. cxd4 Nxe4! 11. Bxd8 Nxc3+ regains the queen while opening the position to Black's benefit.> 9. dxe5 Nxe5 <This knight didn't have much scope, so Black seeks to exchange it.> 10. Nxe5 dxe5 11. Bg5 h6 <If now 12. Bh4, then 12...Qd6 would probably induce 13. Bxf6 in order to prevent ...Nh5 and ...Nf4.> 12. Bxf6 Qxf6,

intending to shortly redeploy the dark-square bishop to c5 via f8.

Better seems 8. Be2, which would evade a potential fork, avoid disturbing White's central pawns, and inhibit 8...e5 owing to 9. dxe5 dxe5 10. Qxd8, followed by the capture of Black's e-pawn.
