Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-14-04  zorro: I'm not sure why White didn't play 27. Rxe6. The only replies seem 27...Qh7 and 27...Qf8 since other moves seem to lose, e.g. 27...Qxe6 28. Qxe6 h2 29. Rd7+ Kc8 (29...Kb8 30. Qb6+ White mates) 30. Rh7+ White wins, or 26...Rh7 27. Rxe7 Rxe7 28. Qg3+ Kb7 29. b3 White wins.

1) 27...Qh7 (aiming at c2) 28. Qxh7 (instead 28. Qg3+ Kb7 loses) Rxh7 29. Re1 (29 Rd1 Rd4! Black wins) 29...h2 30. Rh1 is probably a draw, e.g. 30...Rf4 31. Rd3 Rh3 32. b3 or 30...Rh3 31.Rd2 Rch4 32. b3

2) 26...Qf8 29. Rxa6 h2 30. Ra8+ Kc7 31. Ra7+ with a perpetual.

Well, maybe White was simply still playing for a win....

Apr-14-04  zorro: oopsss....White pawn is on f4... and Re1 Rd4 is also wrong... ok, forget it :-)
