Jul-23-21  Messiah: What a horrible pun.
Jul-23-21  Brenin: An ingenious pun and an entertaining game. It was a sad moment when the N finally fell on move 63, but there was still plenty of excitement left in the game.

An Englishman: Good Evening: And Good Heavens, how often did each of White's Knights move?! Today's game title refers to White's surname and comes from MIRV, which stands for Multiple Independently targeted Reentry Vehicle, a fancy way of saying one missile, lots of nuclear warheads.

beatgiant: <An Englishman> You understood mostly right, but MRV (multiple reentry vehicle) is one missile, lots of warheads. MIRV is one missile, lots of warheads each with a different target. Here we see White launching multiple knights on the queenside and reentering certain squares.

FSR: How did the knight not have a heart attack? Knight from g1 to f3, d2, b1, c3, a4, b6, c8, a7, b5, c3, d1, f2, g4, takes on h6, g4, e3, f5. Then of course White should have saved the knight with 63.Ne3!+- (sayeth the engine). Instead, he allowed Black to eat the priceless beast, after which Black could have held. The knight peregrinations brought to mind the immortal game Bogoljubov vs L Schmid, 1949.
