Jan-10-04  Dick Brain: Mr. Costeras seemed to hang in there for a while pretty well. Is it possible that 4...d5 is a almost never played yet good variation of the Sician?
Mar-17-05  MasterOfChaos: i think its possible the strange's i used a chess software for an analysis..and in 4..move had better options..Nf6 or d6..after i made the D5 move i'ts now stable the top Answer for the black.!!(+0.31 fritz 8 engine)

  tpstar: This rare Sicilian line contains 2 ready-made traps. First, after 5. Nxc6 bxc6 6. ed Black must recapture 6 ... Qxd5 as 6 ... cd?! 7. Bb5+ wins a Pawn. Second, after 7 ... Bd7 8. Qxd5 Black should accept the Pawn minus with 8 ... Nf6 9. Bxd7+ or 8 ... Bxb5 9. Qxb5+ or 8 ... Qa5+ 9. Nc3 and avoid 8 ... e6?! 9. Bxd7+ winning a second Pawn.

tpstar-NN (QueenAlice 5/21/06): 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cd 4. Nxd4 d5 5. Nxc6 bxc6 6. ed cd?! (6 ... Qxd5 7. Nd2) 7. Bb5+ Bd7 8. Qxd5 e6?! 9. Bxd7+ 1-0 (9 ... Ke7 10. Bg5+ Nf6 11. Qb7 Rb8 12. Qxa7 ).

FSR: <Dick Brain> To very belatedly respond to your question, Emms and Palliser recommend 4...d5 in their 2006 book "Dangerous Weapons: The Sicilian." Personally, although the variation is not completely busted, I'd rather not get all those pawn islands.
Nov-30-14  TheFocus: From a simul in Cleveland, Ohio on March 18, 1964.

Fischer scored +51=0-1.
