Oct-30-07  RookFile: Such, dynamic, interesting games from Stanley, the first US Chess champion!
Oct-30-07  Shams: 50.Ra1 and how does black win?

50. Ra1 Nc3+ 51. Kf1 Kf3 52. g7 e2+ 53. Kg1 e1=Q+ etc. looks like a quick mate.
Nov-01-07  Shams: <beatgiant> you're off by a move, 50.Ra1 prevents ...Na4 and then Nc3. Black's knight is on b2.
Nov-01-07  RookFile: Well, it's a dynamic situation, you could probably spend all night analyzing 50. Ra1 Nd3! 50. Rb1 might be better, because ...Na4 is out due to 51. Rb4+

So. 50. Rb1 Nd3 51. Rxb7 Nf4+ 52. Kd1 Kd3 and it appears white has nothing better than a draw.

Also interesting is 50. Rg1 Nd3 51. Rg4+ Nf4+ 52. Rxf4 Kxf4 53. g6 Kg3! 54. g7 d1=Q+ 55. Kxd1 Kf2 56. g8=Q e2+ 57. Kc2 e1=Q
