Jul-16-14  Bowen Island: Chapter six of Hellsten's "Mastering Chess Strategy" focuses on more indirect means of creating weaknesses in the opponent's forces and/or improving one's position through Prophlaxis; Restriction; and Provocation.

The game above from the 1962 Olympiad highlights the use of restricting measures to limit and tie down the opponent's pieces.

Black unwisely exchanges off his "Good" light squared Bishop, allows his knight to be imprisoned on h8, then allows for the unstoppable win of a piece which Black only avoids by turning down his King!
