Mar-30-06  Whitehat1963: Talk about taking the king for a long walk. Good lord!
Feb-14-19  PJs Studio: This is a seriously dangerous line for white. Not just chasing the bishop, the whole system black chooses with 3...dxc4 is considered one of the most aggressive openings for black.

I’m sure there are methods for white to get a solid game (of course!) but on an unaware opponent, it’s downright nasty.

plang: 4..Be6 is a sharp sideline consistent with the then 53 year old Kupreichik's style. 12 Qd4 had been played in Zhukova-Stefanova Groningen 1998 (game not included in this database); 12 Nxd7 was new. Black was more than willing to sacrifice the d5 bishop but perhaps White shouldn't have been so eager to go after it. 17 Qe3?led to a king hunt; 17 Kf3..0-0-0 would have held out longer. 17 Qg5..Qf2+ 18 Kd1..Qe1+ 19 Kc2..b3+ 20 Kb1..Nxc1 21 Qxc1..Qxe4+ was another variation leading to mate.

perfidious: The king at the head of his troops; pity this intrepid display by the white monarch came horribly to grief.
