Honza Cervenka: Great squeeze with some very neat tactics by Tarrasch.
Sep-11-15  Mr. V: How does White make a win out of this?

Honza Cervenka: <Mr. V.> Black has nothing to stop white passed Pawns. What would you have played as black in the final position?
Sep-11-15  Mr. V: Uh, I'm going to leave that question unanswered so as not to reveal how pig-headed I am at the board :)

Well then please explain to me. I think maybe 48... f3?

  Honza Cervenka: 48...f3 49.gxf3 gxf3 50.Rf2 Kg8 (50...Rg5? 51.Nf7+ and 52.Nxg5) 51.Rxf3 Rg5 52.Rf5 wins the second Pawn with easily won endgame.

Or 48...Kg8 49.e6 f3 50.gxf3 gxf3 51.e7 fxe2 52.e8=Q Rxd6 53.Qxe2 and now black cannot play 53...Rxd5 for 54.Qg2+ and 55.Qxd5. Of course 53...h4 54.Qe5 Rd7 55.Kg2 is quite hopeless for black too.

Sep-13-15  Mr. V: This is the best I could think of: 48...f3 49.gxf3 gxf3 50.Rf2 Rxd6 51.exd6 Nd7 52.Rxf2 Kg7 What are your thoughts here?

Honza Cervenka: It's utterly hopeless for black. There are many ways to win for white. The simpliest is to activate the King by getting him on d4, and then to expel the Knight from d7 by Rook.
Sep-13-15  Mr. V: ok, that's clear now. Thanks!
