Why did White played Qa2 before Qc2?

Thanks in advance, JG

Feb-26-08  sneaky pete: <KokeFischer> Euwe explains: 26.Qa2 .. is to prevent .. Qf6 with ..e5. If 26.Qc2 Qf6 27.e4 e5 or 26.Qh7+ Kf7 white's attack comes to a standstill. After 26.Qa2 Qf6 27.e4 .. white threatens e5/Qc2/Qh7+ and finally Bg6(+).

  sisyphus: In Logical Chess, Move by Move, Irving Chernev says after 26...Qd6

<The defense by 26....Q-B3 succumbs to 27.P-K4! (now we see the point of 26.Q-R2 – it is to pin Black's King Pawn and prevent 27....P-K4 at this point), QR-Q1 28.P-K5, Q-B5 29.Q-B2 (threatening 30.Q-R7ch, K-B1 31.B-Kt6, R-K2 32.Q-R8 mate), Q-Kt4 30.P-B4, Q-Kt5 31.R-Qb3, and the entrance of the Rook at KKt3 followed by 33.Q-R7ch is conclusive.>

However, 28...Qf7! defends better (even if Black is lost anyway).
